Writing found on the walls is one of the most basic and immediate forms of communication. Paying attention to your surroundings, you start to get the feeling of a city, be it opinion, humour, outrage, or hate. These anonymous voices sketch out a personality of the people who live there. The messages on Halifax's buildings paint a picture of communities that value art and intellect, and are keenly aware of the political climate that we live in. They express hope to build a more compassionate way of living while questioning authority and holding those who abuse it accountable.
