12 Dal student councillors face recall, 8 survive
Dalhousie University's student council meeting had a nervous beginning for 12 council members facing recall Wednesday night.
Of the 12 members, four were kicked off the council for poor meeting attendance under bylaw 10 of the DSU's constitution.
Council member Eric Snow put forward the recall motion. Architecture representative Mason Lampard, international students community representative Mohammad Kbeili and dentistry representative Sachar Dvorkin were recalled under subsection 11 for missing four consecutive meetings. Lampard missed five meetings whereas Kbeili and Dvorkin missed 6 meetings, said Snow.
Graduate studies representative Chris Giacomantonio was recalled under subsection 10 for missing two meetings without a reasonable excuse.
Victoria Jones of the union's Executive Review Committee put forward a motion to have five more councillors face recall at the next council meeting for failing to participate in a review of the student council executive. They are Jonathan Hughes, Haley Doyle, Carly Nicolson, Laura Forest and Elizabeth Mens.
The next council meeting will take place Feb. 4.
