University students will have to wait for H1N1 vaccinations. Clinics were set to begin vaccinating Dalhousie University students on Nov 2. However there's not enough vaccine to go around.
Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia's chief public health officer, has announced a list of population groups who will be eligible to receive the vaccine. University students are not on that list.
For now, vaccinations will only be provided to pregnant women, and children between the ages of 6 and 59 months old. Health care workers providing direct care and First Nations people will also be given priority. Dal's Flu Care and Prevention website says students providing direct care in a professional capacity outside of their studies or as part of their training will also be included.
The Capital Heath Authority doesn't expect there to be enough vaccine available for public clinics until Nov 13 at the earliest.
