Dalhousie University sent out a mass email today to its students to caution them on their social media use.
Dal is targeting a recent trend on social media called “neknominations,” in which participants are pressured into chugging alcoholic drinks in creative ways. The letter from Dal says, “neknomination can not only violate university polices, but they have the potential to negatively affect future job prospects.” In addition, Dal cited other recent social media controversies including offensive tweets and cyber bullying.
Dal is encouraging their students to give their social media interactions a “sober second thought.”
