U.K. teachers to be trained in schools, not universities:
Funding for university courses in education in the United Kingdom could be cut in 2013 because fewer secondary teachers are needed. There are 300 secondary school courses that have 10 or fewer students. That may lead to school mergers or closures. The Universities Council for the Education of Teachers has expressed concern with the loss of facilities and expertise this could cause.
