Virginia Supreme Court ruled Virginia Tech was not negligent in failing to warn students about the 2007 gunman, overturning last year’s jury verdict. The fact that campus police did not have adequate information at the time of the shootings was a major factor. Administrators waited more than two hours after the first shootings before sending a campus-wide alert. The families of Julia Pryde and Erin Peterson claim the lack of an alert was the “proximate cause of (their) deaths.”
