Fall reading week for Dalhousie?

DSU calls for an extended autumn break

The Dalhousie Student Union approved a motion to call on the university to implement a fall reading week at Dalhousie.

The vote took place at a student council meeting on Jan. 15.

It was not an unanimous decision, with three council members objecting to the motion and four council members abstaining from the vote.

Students already receive a two-day break in November, after the Dalhousie Senate approved a fall study day to coincide with Remembrance Day in 2010.  The fall reading week would add three additional days to the existing November holidays, resulting in a five-day break from classes.

Final approval for the fall reading week is up to the Dalhousie Senate.

More updates to come.
