Heavy snow and gusty winds rolled into Halifax after midnight, temporarily shutting down Halifax universities this morning. NSCAD and all Nova Scotia Community Colleges in the province are closed for the day. Dalhousie and King's College announced at 10:40 a.m. they would remain closed for the afternoon but Saint Mary's and Mount Saint Vincent will re-open at noon.

Schools across south-east New Brunswick and the Annapolis Valley are also closed as heavy snowfall hits the region. Parts of Nova Scotia are expected to get between 20 and 30 centimetres of snow.
